!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , which is a pretty active forum dedicated to Texas car owners, is hosting a memorial cruise in remembrance of Ash Turner. These guys seem to have known him pretty well, given the fact that they changed the header image to a shot of Ash's car with his name on it. I've added the details of the cruise below, or you can check out their info in !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! :
Start Date:
May 17, 2014 10:00 AM
End Date:
May 17, 2014 04:00 PM
Time zone: America/Chicago -05:00 CDT
Location:
Planet Fitness
7100 U.S. 290
Austin, TX 78736
As of yesterday evening, the host had not yet finalized the route, but I can update that detail when it becomes available. I'm not in the Austin area so I won't be able to attend, but it might be pretty cool for the Jalop/Oppo community to be able to show some support.

This is unfortunate as I will be in Houston that weekend. Good to see support though even though I never knew Ash personally.

...dedicated to central Texas car owners...
Not to be pedantic but, it's kind of a big place.

Didn't the last memorial ride end up shutting down a freeway? Please don't do that, it's disrespectful to whomever you're trying to memorialize and it's disrespectful to other motorists.

I don't know anything about that, but I'll say this: A memorial ride has no business shutting down a freeway. If that is the result, then you're right that it's disrespectful. However, this is a chance for a group of people to memorialize someone by engaging in something that the remembered loved, within the auspices of the law. Executed properly, it's a good way to meet people, have some fun, and serve as support for others all at the same time.
What's not to like?

No I think it's a great idea! but often when a group of petrol heads get together some douchebags seem to show up and ruin the fun.

You are scum!!!!! I have no words to express the contempt I feel for you for posting spam in an article about honoring a fellow Jalop who died way to soon... You should be ashamed of yourself!!!

Our cruises don't shut down highways, we have a good time in the twisties and end it with a big group meal usually at a BBQ joint. Thanks for the shout-out OP, but Centex Cruises is organizing the event, us at 3H are just supporting Ash and rallying people together for the cruise.

Hi guys...I'm Marc, the event coordinator at CENTEXCRUISES. We will not be shutting down any roads or blocking traffic. It's a memorial cruise for Ash, and I have put together several 100+ car cruises in the past few years.....none of which have caused any negative effects on other road users or bystanders. It's just a fun cruise for a good cause.
